The Balcılar Property
Location and Geology
Balcılar area is located approximately 55 km. East of Çanakkale, nearby Balcılar Viiage. The property is accessible by a paved road followed by a private mine road. The lithologies of the property are mainly Miocene aged andesitic lava and tuff breccia reported as Balcılar Volcanics by the MTA.
In the Balcılar Village area, the observable outcrops are quartz- barite veins with sulphide ore mineralization. The veins strike about 130 degrees and dip to North at about 80 degrees. Host rocks are massive, poorly altered andesitic- basaltic rocks. The main ore body is composed of disseminated, rarely clusters of galena and sphalerite, mineralized within quartz and barite veins. The thickness of the vein is about 1 meter. There are smaller parellel quartz veins, around it. The trace of the vein is clearly observable on the surface for 150-200 meters towards West.
