Çanakkale Madencilik Ltd.Şti.(Çanakkale Mining Limited Company) was founded in 1957. The share holders are four brothers, with technical background.The older brother; is a Metallurgical and Ore Dressing Engineer,graduated from University of Pittsburg and Arizona, with B.S. and M.S. degree. The other brothers are graduated from the Local Technical School.

At the begining, they started in the small scale of mining activities and by the time they grow in todays' scale, that is five mining field is under operation and production. In the main mine field Koru, yearly 200,000 tons of low Lead, Zinc, Ore are mined out and this ore is enriched to high grade Lead and Zinc concentrate. The average grade of Ore changes from 4 to 6 percent Zinc and Lead, with 50 gr silver per ton. Yearly production concentrate is around 12,000 tons, with %60 percent metal, 40 percent Zinc and 20 percent lead, as bulk concentrate.

The second mine field is Çataltepe contains also Zinc and Lead Ore, with high percent Copper in it. This ore is also enriched in the flotation plant.

The third mine field is Gold and Silver mine, rich in gold and silver. This ore is enriched in the flotation  plant, the ore contains almost 50 percent pyrite and the remaining 50 percent silica.

The fourth mine field is Balcılar. This field is also Zinc and Lead mine field.

All the  above mentioned mine fields are located within the vicinity of Çanakkale peninsula. The farest distance is 100 kilometer from the city of Çanakkale. Roads to mine, partly highway , partly country roads, but in  all season they are opened for transportation. The flotation plant is located in the Koru Mine, which is the biggest ore production center. The daily capacity of floatation plant is around 600 tons of raw ore, crashing, grounding and floating which produce 50 tons concentrate daily with 60 percent Zinc and Lead-Bulk Concentrate.

Tailings are disposed by pumping the tailing in the area far from the Koru Creek, and after dewatering, the water is returned to flotation plant and the tailings are deposited in the area where no contaminated and harm is given to environment.

The company also holds mineral discovering and prospecting licences. In addition to four mine fields with operational license taken from the Minister of State Turkish Government, Çanakkale Madencilik, hold a working force about 100 people including 5 engineers, 5 mine Technicians and 10 supervision people and the rest is blue collar workers.

The company is directed by a General Manager, under him a Mine Operation Manager, an Administrative Manager and an Accountant take place. In addition a Jeological Unit is attached to General Manager whose job is to discover new reserves of Ore.

The metal concentrate which is produced by Çanakkale Mining Limited Company is shipped from Çanakkale to Europe through a European Company as a buyer.

Çanakkale Mining Limited  Company is a family Company goes back to 1960. The Company is administrated by Mr.Berkin Akol as a General Manager for almost 15 years; supported by his uncles who have an experience of 40 years in mining field. Mr.Berkin Akol holds a B.S in Engineering  from İstanbul University and a Master of Business of Administration from U.S.A
