The Koru Property

Location and Geology

The Koru Property is located 45km to Çanakkale. The geological units which are exposed in the Koru property are represented by Eocene andesitic lava and tuffs, Oligocene rhyolitic lava and tuff which are intruded by andesitic dike and andesitic subvolcanic, and Miocene felsic and mafic volcanics. Quaternary debris flow and alluviums are youngest unit in the property. Oligocene rhyolitic volcanism is host for Pb-Zn-Ag and Ba mineralization and composed of porphyritic and glassy, locally massive, autobrecciated and flowbanded rhyolite lava containing spherulite, locally quartz phenocrysts and biotite exposed as lava flows among the felsic litic and aphanitic tuff.

Pb-Zn-Ag-Ba Mineralization

Pb-Zn-Ag-Ba mineralization in the Koru property are hydrothermally brecciated, stockwork, vein and veinlets, fractured filling and disseminated type and occured in the porphyritic rhyolite domes and lavas. Mineralization in the glassy rhyolite is weaker than porphyritic rhyolite. Mineralization also effect felsic tuff which overlies and underlies rhyolite domes and lavas. So, hydrothermally brecciated mineralization in the rhyolite lavas are uniq in the Koru property and should be called Koru type minerilazation.
